We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
At Polaris Observatory we are strongly committed to the protection of the dark sky and access to starlight. Astrotourism is a sustainable form of tourism because not only is the resource not consumed, it is protected. In 2019 we signed the Declaration of La Palma which commits us to it. We carry out different actions to raise awareness among neighbors regarding light pollution and its dangers and I write astronomy articles to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the night sky. In addition, we recently signed the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Natural Spaces (CETS) which led us to undertake some actions: use of sustainable packaging, awareness talks about the dark sky, use of ecological paint for the conservation of the observatory, etc.

In the Polaris observatory we show the magnificent starry sky of Gredos, Starlight Reserve, in a cozy and private atmosphere, maximum 12 people.
We offer an original, comfortable, and familiar experience, aimed at all kinds of public, in which, without previous knowledge, you can learn while enjoying the sky. Polaris is located in Barajas, Navarredonda de Gredos, Ávila. We organize night sky observations guided by a starlight monitor accredited by the Starlight Foundation.
The observatory is a small wooden house, located in the garden of the rural house "Casa del Altozano". It is not necessary to stay in the house to enjoy a session. It has a sliding roof and inside there are two comfortable benches, a telescope (a Celestron CPC 800).
