This trail, suspended on the ridges of the impressive Caldera de Taburiente, offers stunning panoramic views of the interior of the Caldera, the rest of La Palma, and the neighboring islands. Join us on this journey from Pico de la Cruz to the highest point on the island, Roque de los Muchachos. The trail winds through several mountain ridges, above 2,000 meters in altitude, passing along 7 kilometers of world-renowned astrophysical observatories, indigenous huts, and legendary basalt walls. And, at all times, breathtaking views.
We begin the experience by driving up to the top of the island in our van. A spectacular winding road takes us through five climate zones to the roof of the island at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. A unique hike along the well-developed high-altitude trail awaits us, accompanied by incredible views of the Caldera and the entire island. On a clear day, we can see the three neighboring islands: Tenerife, La Gomera, and El Hierro, and with a little luck, we can also see the famous cloud waterfall of La Palma. An unforgettable hike that everyone should do at least once.
Tip: May and June are the flowering seasons in the mountains, a unique experience of color. Among other endemic plants, the Palmera violet, several types of tajinastes, and several types of broom that are only found in Tenerife and La Palma bloom here.
