Our ecotourism commitment

We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information

Our certificates:
Our ecotourism commitment:

- The travel consultancy that markets this trip is a member of Soy Ecoturista and, therefore, committed to nature conservation and local development. It is a collaborating entity of the Sobrarbe-Pyrenees Geopark.

- The groups of the activities are small to ensure the quality of the experience and minimise the impact on the environment.

- Disseminate and raise awareness: One of the main objectives of our project is to raise awareness among all the people who participate in these activities about the need to take care of our planet, making us responsible for each of our actions. It is emphasised that each person carries a bag to collect the rubbish they make during the day and throw it in the corresponding containers at the end of the day; likewise, we offer the possibility of collecting the rubbish we may find on the mountain to leave the environment in better condition than we found it.

- The company that carries out the activities has a project to calculate and reduce the carbon footprint that consists of:

- Calculation: For this we take into account each activity individually, calculating the emission that is made in each type of activity as a result of the movement of guides and material. We also take into account the CO2 emissions from office activities. In this case 75% of the emissions are due to transport to the activities, 20% to transport in the surveys and 5% in energy used in the office.

- Decrease: Necessary measures are taken to reduce emissions, both by saving energy and by reducing the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. Some of the measures that have been taken:

- Possibility of contracting transport to increase the ratio of people per vehicle.

- Use of the appropriate vehicle for each activity: van or company car.

- Remote meetings of staff members.

- Compensate: We are looking for reforestation or reforestation projects in which to invest in order to compensate for the amount of CO2 we have emitted into the atmosphere. We are currently reforesting trees of autochthonous species in Galicia.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL TRAVEL DAY LIKE?

We get up and have breakfast at the hotel restaurant: we will get strength for the rest of the day. After breakfast we take all the material and move to the starting point of the excursion. Before we start our way we try to stop to buy bread, although on holidays it is sometimes more complicated. We can bring some sausage from home, but in the tourist sites there is usually no problem to buy what is necessary for the meal.

The drives to the start of our excursions are not long, usually between 20-30 minutes, but they are also an integral part of the experience. Enjoy the scenery and listen attentively to the stories and comments of the guide, who will immerse you in the local culture. In addition, if the group wishes, stops can be made to take photos or simply admire the breathtaking scenery. These days are designed to be enjoyed without rushing.

During our excursions, the pace is leisurely, allowing us to fully enjoy the surroundings, but active enough to complete all scheduled activities. If at any time you feel that the pace is too fast or you feel uncomfortable, do not hesitate to let your guide know. We always make sure that the whole group is as close as possible.

After the exciting excursion, we will enjoy a well-deserved refreshment in a cozy local bar, where we can taste authentic local flavors with the recommendation of the guide. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will have time to rest or take a relaxing walk around the village where we are staying, immersing yourself in the local atmosphere and enjoying the culture and traditions of the area.
Dinner and rest.

Afterwards, we will go to Boltaña, administrative capital of the Sobrarbe region and we will visit its medieval quarter and its famous pond in the Ara River.

Day 6 august 2024: ORDESA VALLEY AND TORLA

-Breakfast and departure to Torla, capital of this sector of the National Park, where we will take one of the Park's buses (we will pay directly), which will take us to the beginning of our route: The Ordesa Meadow, where the statue of Lucien Briet, the great promoter of the declaration of National Park in 1918, is located. Today we will make an unusual route that will take us to contemplate the valley from the heights: the beginning of the road runs through a huge beech forest that climbs towards the Circo de Carriata and once the forest disappears, we will observe the Tozal del Mallo. Later, at 1,800m. altitude, we will cross the Faja Racún just below the Espolón del Gallinero and the Circo de Cotatuero: we will reach this area around lunchtime, so we can take our picnic with the wonderful views of the waterfall that descends from the Circo de Cotatuero. Once we have eaten and recovered our strength, we will continue our way along the Canarella path that will take us, through the Fraucata Wall, to the Forest of the Beeches, where we will descend to the lower part of the valley. On the way back along the Cola de Caballo path we will admire the Cascadas del Estrecho and the Cascada de la Cueva waterfalls.

Elevation gain: 750 m. Distance: 15,5Km
Drop down: 750 m. Type of road: trail
On the way back to our hotel, we will stop in Torla, a small village with traditional mountain architecture that has a small but very well preserved historical site. It is an ideal place to buy some souvenirs of the Park or products of the rich gastronomy of the area (a secallona, a cheese, some infusions or liquors of kilometer 0) and to rest admiring from its terraces the entrance of the Ordesa Valley. We will return to our hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 7 August 2024: ESCUAÍN VALLEY

-Of the four valleys that make up the Ordesa National Park, today we will visit Escuaín, the smallest and least visited. It is a very quiet valley in which the Straits or Gorges of Escuaín stand out; these magnificent gorges are really special due to the phenomenon of thermal inversion that occurs in them. In the higher areas, we find a lush almost Mediterranean vegetation, while in the lower areas we can observe the typical high mountain vegetation. This phenomenon is due to the humidity and temperature of the place, caused by the narrowness of the valley and the proximity of its imposing walls.
Our route today will start from the picturesque village of Escuaín and will take us to explore the lower part of this spectacular canyon. Nearby, we will find a feeding ground for carrion-eating birds of prey, such as the majestic bearded vulture, the imposing griffon vulture, the Egyptian vulture, the black kite and the mighty golden eagle. Watching these birds in their natural environment is a common and impressive experience in this area.

Elevation gain: 680m. Distance: 15km.
Elevation gain downhill: 680m. Type of road: trail
Return to the hotel, dinner and lodging.

Day 8 August 2024: AÑISCLO CANYON

-Breakfast and departure to Añisclo, the deepest valley of Ordesa. The drive to the beginning of the route is captivating, you will not stop looking around, up and down. We will start from the emblematic Hermitage of San Urbez, partially carved into the rock and we will enter the canyon, going through it step by step. Surely at some point in our route today we will feel cold, product of the thermal inversion that also occurs in this valley due to its unique fluvial structure.
There is no way to resist the temptation to capture with our camera the folds of limestone rock that adorn the imposing walls of the canyon, the endemic flora that populates it and the intricate structures created by man, skillfully adapting to their environment. On days like this, every corner is worthy of being immortalized in an image that captures the majesty of this natural scenery.

Elevation gain: 686m. Distance: 12km.
Elevation gain downhill: 686m. Type of road: trail
In the afternoon we will visit the village of Ainsa: a medieval village with an old town declared a Historic-Artistic Site and one of the "Most beautiful villages in Spain". From here we will have a good panoramic view of the Pyrenees: the Tres Sorores or 'Treserols', as the people of Sobrarbe have always called them; Monte Perdido (3.355 m), Cilindro (3.328 m), the Añisclo Peak (3.263 m), and the Peña Montañesa (2.295m.) in the foreground. Ainsa is the capital of the Zona Zero Pyrenees, a network of traditional trails recovered for the enjoyment of mountain biking at all levels. Riders from all over the world come here to emulate the participants in the Enduro World Series, which have been held here on 2 occasions. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 9 August 2024: PINETA VALLEY

-Breakfast and departure to the last valley of the National Park that we will visit, although one of the most spectacular. Departing from the Parador Nacional Bielsa (or Parador de Pineta), at the bottom of the valley, we will head towards an impressive natural spectacle: the Cascadas del Cinca, the source of this mighty river. We will continue our route towards the Llanos de Lalarri, a hanging glacier valley over Pineta that will allow us to enjoy its splendor and appreciate the fascinating geology of the area.
Along our route, we will be accompanied by large meadows and the soothing music of water flowing in harmony with nature. An unparalleled experience to admire the beauty and richness of this valley in all its magnitude.
Today we will finish finding out why the whole Sobrarbe County is part of the Sobrarbe Pyrenees UNESCO World Geopark.

Elevation gain: 663m. Distance: 12km.
Downhill difference in altitude: 663m. Type of road: trail
Return to the hotel, dinner and lodging.

Day 10 August: ALQUÉZAR - SIERRA Y CAÑONES DE GUARA NATURAL PARK - ZARAGOZA - MADRID

Breakfast- Breakfast and departure to Alquézar, a small town declared a Historic-Artistic Site, belonging to One of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain and located on a promontory overlooking the Vero River. Strolling through the village we will see the Plaza Vieja, with vaulted arcades, the church of San Miguel, from the 17th century or the collegiate church, dating from 1.099. Today we will walk along a stretch of the Vero River: the river that waters the entire Somontano Wine Appellation of Origin. We will walk along its footbridges (direct paid access), a semi-equipped mountain route that will take us to interesting places such as the Picamartillo Cave or the weir, passing through rocks, hollows, pools, almond trees, olive trees and lush orchards. The world capital of canyoning will surprise us.

Elevation gain: 150m. Distance: 6km.
Drop down: 150m. Type of road: trail
