Boat Tour of the Costa Quebrada Geopark

On this boat tour aboard the Romanza, you’ll discover the Costa Quebrada Geopark from the perspective for which it was created: the sea. Sailing alongside its cliffs, beaches, and rock formations allows you to appreciate the magnitude of a landscape shaped over millions of years by the combined forces of the ocean, the wind, and the Earth’s movements.

The route departs from Puerto Chico, in Santander, and heads west, leaving the tranquility of the bay behind to venture into a wilder, more rugged coastline.

As we make our way along the coastline, we’ll discover some of the Geopark’s most iconic sites, such as San Juan de la Canal Beach, the impressive Urros de Liencres—giant rock columns that defy the waves—and Portio Beach, a hidden cove nestled between cliffs.

One of the most special moments of the journey is passing through La Arnía, one of the most spectacular geological sites on the Cantabrian coast. From the sea, its folds and strata are clearly visible, as if the Earth had opened a book to tell us its story.
Further on, the cruise continues along the coast and past the dunes of Liencres, where the sea, forest, and geology come together to create one of the most unique landscapes in northern Spain.

Throughout the tour, Mario and Jorge will share their passion for Costa Quebrada with you through various interpretive stops. In a friendly and engaging way, they’ll help you discover how this spectacular landscape was formed, what stories its rocks hold, and why this corner of the Cantabrian coast has been recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark.

An experience that invites you to observe, understand, and enjoy the area from a different perspective.
