At Ecolagar O Barqueiro we are committed to the conservation of biodiversity and local development in Pantón, in the Ribeira Sacra. Our accommodation was born from the rehabilitation of the old Barqueiro winery house, a historic complex from 1772 built in stone and located in a privileged environment next to the Miño River and the Os Peares reservoir.
1. Self-sufficiency and resource savings We are practically self-sufficient thanks to the use of renewable energy and the automation and control of systems, which allow us to reduce energy consumption by 30% and water consumption by 20%.?In addition, we have our own spring water and rainwater harvesting for irrigation, and we continue to improve the efficiency of the accommodation with zoned air conditioning, LED light bulbs, double-glazed windows and an electric vehicle charger.
2. Conservation of the viticultural landscape We maintain the vineyards in our environment to help preserve the landscape and the unique ecosystem of Ribeira Sacra.?We are in the process of implementing organic viticulture systems to produce our own wine in an ecological way, with the motto of quality over quantity, and we reinforce this commitment with the recovery of vineyards, the maintenance of old native vines and the planting of laurel.
3. Responsible environmental managementIn the accommodation we use disposable cutlery, glasses and cups made of PLA bioplastic and plates and tableware made of sugarcane bagasse, reducing the impact of single-use materials.?We also manage hazardous waste through the Pantón Municipality's Clean Point and we have an automated consumption monitoring system to continuously improve our environmental management.
4.
