Walk on the waters of the Minho

Boat trip with wine tasting and local product in a traditional winery. The crystal clear and calm waters of the river Miño in spring as it passes through the Ribeira Sacra are tinged with the green of its banks, a monochrome landscape dotted with white cherry blossoms, in summer its multitude of tributaries put music to the silence and in autumn everything becomes multicolored with deciduous trees and vineyards before reaching the vegetative stop.In autumn, everything becomes multicolored with deciduous trees and vineyards before the vegetative stop announcing the winter. All blessed by the multitude of churches and wineries on the slopes of Padre Miño. To enjoy the best views we are located in the middle of the river where sometimes we have to stop before the passage of settlers such as otters, roe deer, squirrels, etc. Of course if we look at the sky we will see other companions such as eagles, kites etc.. Before so much forest and vineyards it is inevitable to go to the Ecosacra Winery at the foot of the river to taste the excellent wines and local products.

We’ll begin the tour in the municipality of Sober just before sunset to explore petroglyphs: rocks bearing ancient engravings that transport us back to prehistoric times.

Although petroglyphs can be found throughout Galicia, in the Ribeira Sacra, Sober is one of the areas that holds the most of these prehistoric relics. Guided boat tour of the Miño Canyon in Ribeira Sacra

A guided boat tour lasting about two hours through the Miño Canyon in the Ribeira Sacra Miñota, aboard Quinta Sacra’s Narwhal semi-rigid boats (capacity for 9 or 15 people, depending on the boat).

The tour follows the river’s course, bordered by two routes to Santiago—the French Way and the Winter Way—between the towns of Portomarín and Belesar, passing through the oldest oak forests on the planet, the heroic vineyards of the Ribeira Sacra DO, and the highest concentration of rural Romanesque architecture in Europe.

During the tour, there is the option to make various stops (at no extra cost) to enjoy the spectacular Fervenza de Augacaída waterfall, surrounded by forests, and the Castro de Marce, where, according to oral tradition, the Xacias—the mythological beings of the Miño—dwell. You can also visit a bend in the river or the island of Sernande (also known as the island of Maiorga).

The activity is led by the Quinta Sacra team, pioneers in the Ribeira Sacra (since 2008), with commentary on the canyon’s natural and cultural heritage.

The Holy Bath and the Sorrow of the Dead

Hiking along the "secret route" of the Ribeira Sacra. An ancient path used by pilgrims and as a trade route before the construction of the Sil reservoirs takes us through a place full of legends: an anthropomorphic tomb with miraculous springs, the Pena dos Difuntos, on which hundreds of coffins rested on their way to the cemetery leaving their mark in the form of a cross carved on it, ancient terraces for the vines, stories of guerrillas, an abandoned village and a superhuman flora and landscape. A different glimpse of the always spectacular Ribeira Sacra. A different glimpse of the always spectacular Ribeira Sacra, a route of medium difficulty.
